Choice Book Report: Lion Boy

     I read the book Lion Boy by Zizou Corder. Charlie is the main character and he is very different from other people in this book because he can talk to cats. He can talk to cats because when he was a baby his blood got mixed with cat blood and ever since then he has been talking to cats. He uses his uniqueness to his advantage. An example is he set a whole team of circus lions against their circus and escaped the circus. Another example is he finds out a lot of things his parents are talking about behind his back or things he's not suppose to know from his family cats. He found out his parents were kidnapped when he talked to one of his family cats. Because he can talk to cats it makes it easier for him to survive and get out of tough situations. One example is he talked to lions to avoid getting killed by them. He makes friends with a lot of cats.

     One conflict is he has to find his parents because they get kidnapped. He leaves his home in London and desparately roams around to try to find them. He eventually finds a circus a traveling circus that travels on water in a big boat that is going in the same direction as him. He stays with the circus for a while but once it starts getting dangerous he leaves and smuggles the lions with him and they get on a train.
     Another conflict is he is suppose to stay with someone he doesn't trust. His parents leave him a note before they get kidnapped saying to stay with Rafi and his mom. Rafi seems like a very suspicous suspect to his parents kidnapping. He never stays with him; he leaves and trys to find his parents instead.
     He can't trust the main lion trainer either. He trusts him at first but once he notices he can talk to cats he starts to watch him more and almost tries kidnapping him. He takes the lions and leaves him.
     Towards the end of the book he finds an animal that has been extinct for thousands of years but was geneticaly brought back to life by scientists. Charlie thinks it is wrong but takes him with him and the lions. Because he is a cat charlie can talk to him too. He finds out that he is an ancestor to the species of lions at the circus. The mysterious animal is different from the othere lions; it looked like a saber tooth tiger. Because of that they treat him differently but they still keep him with them.

Midwest Plains 2007

   The west side of  Nebraska is dry, flat, small, and hot. I went to Scotts Bluff, Nebraska for the 2007 10-Year-Old Midwest Plains Regional Baseball Tournament. We got invited to go there for winning the state tournament in Chaska.
   We had to be there two days before the first games were played so we could check in to the hotel, check in to the tournament, and practice. My team had to drive 15 hours to get there and we weren't the farthest away. Cape Girardeau, Missouri was the farthest, they had to drive over 20 miles to get there, but it was probably worth it because they won the tournament and advanced to the world series in Indianapolis.
   We won our first game but lost the second to Cape Girardeau and that put us in the losers bracket. We battled our way through the losers bracket and advanced to the championship game against Cape Girardeau.
   The hardest game in the losers bracket was against Lamar, Colorado. They had by far the best pitcher we saw in the whole tournament. After the game we met a lot of the players at the hotel and made friends with them. A couple of years later i went to Lamar for one of my brothers tournaments but sadly I didn't see or recognize anybody there.
   Two days Later we played the championship game. It was really close but we ended up losing 4-0 with only two hits. As soon as the game was over we left for the 15 hour drive home. I will never forget my experience in a regional tournament.

2nd Place 2010

     Buffalo, Minnesota is one of the best places to watch, and play a basketball game. I was there with my basketball team for the 2009 12 year old BB state tournament. We had been to Buffalo to play before but we hadn't been in a state tournament before, so it was different.

     We did great during pool play, we went 2-1. We started bracket play as the second seed. We needed to win two more games to make it into the championship game. We won both games  and we got into the chapionship. We had to play the team we lost to in pool play, Rosemount.

     We ended up losing by five but it was a good game, the score was going back and forth the whole game and they ended up keeping it. I will never fortget my expirience at the state tournament.
