T.J. Nucci is a smart high school kid who lives just outside of Chicago. He is a really good friend to Tyrone who he mentors through his basketball career, not a physical basketball mentor but more of a mental mentor. He is an average basketball player but good enough to play varsity on his high school basketball team. He has a unique personality of being shy and cocky at the same time. An example of this is when he talks to the school counselor about Tyrones grades and his basketball future he was cocky about himself and tyrone but also shy about giving information.
In my mind I picture T.J. Nucci to be about six foot three inches and about 150 pounds. He isn't the most strong fast or athletic person but he isn't weak. I think he is a smart person too because the author always mentions how good he does in school compared to Tyrone. The author never really mentioned it but i think he got moved out of Chicago and into a suburb either because of his grades or because he lived in a dangerous neighborhood. When he moved to Chicago I think he took Tyrone with him. T.J. works two part time jobs: a paper boy, and a maintenace at Hardees.
T.J. is also a respectful person but in a different way. An exaple of this is when he met LouAnn at the foot bridge he was respectful by listenning to her and somewhat agreeing with her but he put his own opinion on it too. He didn't give in and believe everything she told him he stuck with his beliefs and and told her what he thought which i think is a good thing and something that shows a lot about him. When he met LouAnn he was also detailed about his thoughts towards her, he said things like she had a beautiful way of doing things. I didn't really get it but i think it was his way of saying she was graceful. T.J. is also sensative. He thought he caused LouAnn to commit suicide after he told her that all of her beliefs were political and wrong in his mind. He wasn't really forgiving of himself so he talked to Sister Simone about it. When he talked to Sister Simone he was very direct and strait forward about what he needed to tell her. He told her strait up that he thought that she had something to do with LouAnn's death by taking her off of her depression medecine and he didn't stop until she gave in or just ignored him. I think T.J. Nucci is a hard working good person.
